Do you often hear that you look tired, even though you have slept well? The eyes are the first thing we meet in one another, and heavy eyelids can give an expression that doesn't match how you feel.
Eyelid surgery, or blepharoplasty, addresses excess skin and fat on the upper or lower eyelids. The result is a more open and rested gaze, not a changed face. The scars are placed in the natural crease of the lid and become very discreet over time.
Sometimes it is not the eyelid but the position of the eyebrow that weighs down the gaze. In that case, a brow lift or a forehead lift may be more appropriate. A careful assessment determines where the real cause lies, so that we treat the right thing.
When a patient says she looks tired, I don't just look at the eyelid. I look at the whole interplay between forehead, brow and gaze.
Swelling and bruising are common in the early period and gradually subside. Many return to everyday life within a couple of weeks. The final, calm expression emerges over time. Results vary from person to person.
During a consultation we go through what lies behind the expression and which procedure gives the most natural effect. You are welcome to book a consultation whenever you'd like to know more.
When you are ready to bring your questions into a conversation, the first consultation is the place to do it. Tell us what you are considering, and we will tell you honestly what is possible.
