Have you wondered about the difference between a traditional facelift and the deep plane technique? It is one of the most common questions we receive, and the answer determines much of how natural and lasting the result will be.
A traditional facelift works mainly with the skin. It is tightened and the excess is removed. This can give an improvement, but because it is the deeper structures that change first over the years, the skin soon takes up the tension again.
The deep plane technique works in a deeper layer. Instead of merely tightening the skin, we release and reposition the deeper tissues. This means the face regains its support, not just a tighter surface.
When the tension is placed on the skin instead of on the supporting structures, a pulled expression easily arises. With deep plane, the lift rests on the tissue beneath the skin, and the skin can lie relaxed on top. That is why the result is often read as rested rather than operated on.
My philosophy is simple. The best result looks like you, only more rested. We don't change your face, we bring out what you already have.
Because the technique restores the deeper support, the result usually lasts longer than with traditional methods, often ten to fifteen years. The skin continues to age over time, but the starting point becomes a different one. Results vary from person to person.
We decide that together. During a consultation we go through your anatomy, your wishes and what is reasonable to achieve. Sometimes a more limited procedure is enough, such as a mini facelift or a neck lift.
The conversation begins with listening, not with suggesting. Book a consultation and we will go through your circumstances calmly.
When you are ready to bring your questions into a conversation, the first consultation is the place to do it. Tell us what you are considering, and we will tell you honestly what is possible.
