One of the most important questions before a tummy tuck rarely concerns the procedure itself, but the time afterwards. How long before you are back in everyday life? Here we go through a realistic timeline.
Immediately after the procedure, swelling, a feeling of tightness and tenderness are common. You wear a compression garment that supports the tissue. The first few days are about rest, not about performing.
Many return to lighter, sedentary work after about two weeks, depending on the extent of the procedure. Heavy lifting and exercise wait longer. The compression garment is usually worn for several weeks to support healing.
The swelling decreases gradually, but it may come and go over a longer period. This is a normal part of healing, not a sign that something is wrong.
